I also have a set of PHD in DGBE which I haven’t tried. the strings feel like a mixture of nylon and fluorocarbon in terms of thickness. Sounds more like fluorocarbon but feels like nylon. Very smooth to the fingers. The strings are nice.

Now, some complex chords might be different - but for a beginner this is true. By the way, the baritone can be a "gateway uke." Don't be surprised if you suddenly need a tenor.
