Founded by Ralph A. Stephens and later owned by William B. Stayer and then Mike Wheeler, this iconic spot evolved from a barbecue stand into the burger joint and diner known across Tampa. In 2005, the Wheelers closed the last remaining location on Florida Avenue.

Goody Goody, a famous burger restaurant brand in Tampa that lasted 80 years before closing and then later being resurrected by the owners of Columbia Restaurant, is shuttering its flagship Tampa location.

A popular Hyde Park burger restaurant will permanently close after this week. Goody Goody Burgers will close its doors after nearly a decade after the current owners purchased the brand to revive it,

Family of Restaurants said Monday that Goody Goody, which serves diner fare like burgers and breakfast foods, will close on Sept. 29. The Goody Goody location at Tampa International Airport will remain open.
