CHICAGO - Chicago is gearing up for a week of fluctuating weather, with rain and even snow on the horizon. The National Weather Service forecasts a chance of isolated showers or sprinkles tonight. Monday afternoon into Tuesday morning, periods of rain are expected.

The forecast predicts a cloudy and potentially rainy week ahead in Chicago, with a cooldown expected late in the week.

Fox 32 meteorologist Mark Strehl has your Sunday evening forecast. Skies will go partly cloudy overnight tonight with lows in the mid-40s. By Monday there will be another round of rain pushing in mid-day and into the afternoon.

The Chicago area typically sees its first trace of snow Oct. 31, Roman said. The area's first measurable snow -- 0.1 of an inch or more -- usually comes Nov. 18, Roman said, and the area's first average snow of one inch or more typically occurs Dec. 7.

Next week features a little rain on Tuesday, but it's the cold front Wednesday into Thursday that we're watching. Wednesday, temperatures will drop through the day with the 60 degree high in the morning dropping to around 40 degrees,

It's a "pea soup" start to Thursday around Chicagoland, with fog, overcast skies and scattered showers covering the area in the early-morning hours. Visibility is down to a mile or so in some locations,

CHICAGO - Rain is moving into Chicagoland Wednesday evening and will be moderate to heavy at times. Showers and possibly a few storms will linger Wednesday night into early Thursday morning. Temperatures are expected to be rather steady tonight with lows in the upper 40s for most areas.
