You do lose some low temp cooking stability when using a high speed motor. I replaced the Traeger controller with a PID to increase temp management especially at low temp smokes.

Disrupt venting and you are changing the designed airflow which will most likely lead to problems. I find that during cold months blocking wind helps a great deal.

For some reason the pellet grill manufactures are not knocking down doors in western Kansas. 9 out of 10 around here have Traegers and the balance have GMG.
